What is the Safer Drivers Course?
Awesome SDC® is a NSW provider of the Transport for NSW Safer Drivers Course. The course is carefully designed for young learner drivers and focuses on helping you recognise risks, make safer decisions and develop practical strategies for staying safe on the road.
The Safer Drivers Course is packed with information about the risks that come with driving and how to manage them. The skills and knowledge you gain can be applied immediately to everyday driving situations.
You won't learn how to operate a motor vehicle during the course. Instead, the focus is on recognising safety-compromising situations, understanding how and why crashes happen, and learning how to reduce risks before they become dangerous.
The course consists of two modules - theory and practical - and takes 5 hours in total.
Module 1 is a 3-hour interactive workshop held at the course venue. A qualified facilitator leads the session using interactive activities, videos, group discussions and practical examples.
Module 2 is a 2-hour practical coaching session with a professional local driving instructor. Two students participate in the vehicle, giving learners the opportunity to put the strategies from Module 1 into practice in real driving situations.
Completing the Safer Drivers Course provides eligible learners with 20 bonus logbook hours.

Where and when are the Bankstown Awesome SDC® courses held?
The Awesome SDC® Bankstown Safer Drivers Course is held at Rydges Bankstown, making it a convenient option for learner drivers in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs.
Courses are regularly scheduled on Saturdays, Sundays and during the NSW school holidays, subject to availability.
Our local courses are delivered by qualified facilitators and professional driving instructors who understand the roads and driving conditions in the local area.
Who can complete the Safer Drivers Course?
To participate, you generally need to:
- Hold a current NSW learner licence
- Be under 25 years of age
- Have completed at least 50 actual hours of supervised driving, recorded in your logbook
Eligible Health Care Card and Pension Card holders may also be able to access the course at no cost, subject to Transport for NSW eligibility requirements.
